The Nissan Consult that the dealer uses costs thousand of dollars and is only available to dealers. The NDSI provides basic diagnostics for N i s s a n and I n f i n i t i cars. It is intended for older cars that have a grey 14-pin Consult I connector. Those are usually cars build between years 1989 and 2000. The connector is typically located near the fuse box. For a list of supported vehicles please visit our website.
This application supports both, petrol and diesel cars. It communicates with the engine ECU using Consult II protocol. It uses the same communication protocol as the dealer diagnostic tool. This protocol is far more comprehensive than the generic OBDII or ISO9141 protocol.
The current version of the app has following functions:
• Data Display with data logging
• Self Diagnostics
• Dash Display with customisable gauges
• Video Recorder
The video recorder function saves an mp4 video file with accompanying data log file. An Overlay software such as RaceRender can then be used to generate videos with custom data visualization.
A Bluetooth or USB diagnostic adapter is required to connect to the car. Those can be purchased from eBay, Internet stores or hobbyists.
Visit our website for a list of tested and recommended adapters.
USB adapters based on FTDI chips are supported. Your Android device has to be capable of USB Host functionality. You will also need a USB OTG (On-The-Go) cable to connect the USB adapter to your device.
If you would like to test the application for compatibility with your car, try the free Lite version also available from Google Play store.

  • Hooking up a scanner to the OBD2 port on my 95 Maxima provided little information, other than basic trouble codes. So I bought this adapter/software combo to try and track down a misfire via the Consult port. It arrived within a few days.
I borrowed a friend's old XP laptop, installed the drivers and software. Went to Datascan's site and got a registration code, which the software recognized.
After connecting the adapter to the 14 pin Consult connector and USB cable to the laptop, the software was able to display readings, after some trial and error. It was able to find the ECU without issue, but I had to re-select items in the Data Display Preferences drop-downs for the data to actually display, as the default settings did not seem to work.
The information supplied is useful and it showed an Air/Fuel ratio of 110%, indicating a lean condition, which could be the cause of the misfire.
Overall, the combo works well. I did need to refer to the help guide to determine what some of the settings and terminology were. My other suggestion would be to provide the data ranges for specific Nissan's to be able to determine if the readings are within factory spec.
